In this video we learn that the Great Smog of London was a very dangerous time in London. Nearly 4,000 people died. The smog was so bad that you couldn't even see your feet when you stepped. People would see themselves covered in dirt when they entered their homes. The fog was caused because of the coal fires that everyone had in their homes. Police had to patrol the riverside to make sure no one fell in due to the blinding of the smog.
